Rubio Meets with Syrian and Kurdish Officials in Munich

Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Saibani met with his American counterpart Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, where they discussed the recent agreement with the Kurds.

The United States expressed its support for the "integration agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces that was recently concluded."

The U.S. State Department published photos from the meeting in Munich showing, next to al-Saibani, the commander of the Kurdish armed forces in Syria, and a Kurdish official who participated in the meeting.

The meeting coincided with the appointment by Damascus of a Kurdish governor in the Hasakah province, a stronghold of the Kurds in the northeast.
