Meloni Meets Emir of Qatar Before Winter Olympics Ceremony

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, in Milan ahead of the Winter Olympics opening ceremony.

According to a statement from the Italian government, the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, efforts to restart negotiations between Iran and the United States, and the stabilization and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Meloni expressed her satisfaction with Doha's negotiation efforts. Support for stabilization in Libya was reaffirmed. Finally, migration and the need for joint efforts against irregular migration and human trafficking in the Mediterranean were discussed.
