US Ambassador Meets Palestinian Authority Official in Ramallah

US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, met with Palestinian Authority Deputy Chairman, Hussein al-Sheikh, in Ramallah. Discussions included the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.

This meeting marks the first time a senior Palestinian Authority official has hosted the US Ambassador in Ramallah. During former President Trump's term, Palestinian Authority officials had refused to meet with then-Ambassador David Friedman.

The meeting is considered an important step towards finding common ground for discussions regarding ending the war in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the West Bank. However, Hamas continues to refuse to sign the American proposal for a ceasefire.
