Geraperitis Meets Al-Shaibani to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with the transitional Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, Asaad Al-Shaibani, in Athens.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and the prospect of convening a trilateral cooperation with Cyprus. Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized the desire to promote regional cooperation, with a possible first meeting of Foreign Ministers in September in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Greek Foreign Minister reiterated Greece's support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as the necessity of fulfilling commitments for an inclusive government, without external interference, including all ethnic and religious communities. He also stressed the importance of adherence to International Law and respect for the sovereign rights of neighboring states.
