Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private clinic in Brasilia due to pneumonia. His wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, reported that the 70-year-old was admitted to the DF Star clinic with a high fever, decreased oxygen saturation, and chills.

Bolsonaro's doctor stated that his condition is serious and he will likely remain in the hospital for several days. For the time being, surgery is not being considered.

Bolsonaro has been sentenced to 27 years in prison and faces numerous health problems. He has been repeatedly hospitalized since the attack he suffered in 2018. The Supreme Court rejected his request to serve his sentence under house arrest.

Meanwhile, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that he had revoked the visa of an American diplomat who sought to visit Bolsonaro in prison. Judge Alexandre de Moraes revoked the visitation permit after being informed of possible US “interference.”

The Foreign Ministry noted that Darren Beattie's visa was revoked due to a “false statement about the purpose of the visit.”
