Twenty countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Britain, France, Canada, and Japan, have stated they are ready to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait has been effectively blocked by Iran since the start of the war in the Middle East. In a joint statement, the countries, mainly European, also condemned recent Iranian attacks targeting ships and oil and gas infrastructure.

They demanded an immediate moratorium on attacks against non-military infrastructure. Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Lithuania, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, and Bahrain are also participating in the statement.
