Starmer Responds to Carney on 'Global Order Rupture': I'm a Realist

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to Mark Carney's warnings about the 'rupture in the global order,' emphasizing that he is a 'realist' and seeks good relations with the US. Starmer defended his policy of building bridges with Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, and the European Union simultaneously.

Starmer is in China to 'rekindle' relations between the two countries, in the first visit by a British Prime Minister since 2018. His official program began with a meeting with Zhao Leji.

Despite the rapprochement efforts, Starmer is facing criticism in Britain, as he has described China as a 'threat' to national security. He emphasized that he would raise issues of disagreement, such as Beijing's proximity to Russia and policy in Hong Kong.

Starmer is making the first visit by a British Prime Minister to China after Theresa May in 2018. He will also visit Japan for talks with Sanae Takaichi.
