FSB Detains Suspect in Attack on Russian General

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that the suspect in the attack on Russian Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev was detained in Dubai and extradited to Russia.

Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev, deputy head of Russia's military intelligence service (GRU), was shot in an apartment building in Moscow. He underwent surgery following the attack.

The FSB stated that a Russian citizen, Lyubomir Korba, was detained in Dubai as a suspect in the attack.

Sergey Lavrov accused Ukraine of being behind the assassination attempt, aimed at sabotaging peace talks. Ukraine denied any involvement.

Alekseyev is the first deputy to the head of the GRU, Igor Kostyukov. Kostyukov led the Russian delegation in talks between Moscow and Kyiv in Abu Dhabi.
