At least 18 civilians were killed in a paramilitary attack in North Kordofan, Sudan, according to the Emergency Lawyers organization. The attack took place in two villages south of Umm Kuraidim.

Dozens more were injured and transferred to El Obeid, as there were no medical facilities available in the area. The North Kordofan region is a focal point of clashes between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the army.

The NGO also denounced looting and abductions, while international organizations report targeted attacks against civilians and obstruction of humanitarian aid. The civil war in Sudan has caused tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 13 million people.

Simultaneously, Sudan is facing a collapse of the health system and a cholera epidemic.
