Russian Control of Ukrainian Territories: Assessments and Prospects

Russia controls approximately 19% of Ukraine, including Crimea since 2014. The Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions are the focus of Russian operations, but control is not complete.
In Luhansk, Russia controls almost the entire region, while in the remaining regions, a portion remains under Ukrainian control. Fighting is intense in the Donbas region, especially around Pokrovsk.
Oleksandr Syrskyi and Zelensky report Ukrainian counterattacks and the recapture of territories. At the same time, cities like Kramatorsk and Sloviansk remain under Ukrainian control.
On the northeastern front, near Kupiansk, Russia has made progress, while Ukraine aims to regain control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Crimea remains a strategic goal for Kyiv.
Kherson remains under Ukrainian control, while Ukraine maintains a bridgehead on the opposite bank of the Dnieper.
