Russia-Ukraine: Russia Proposes Ceasefire for Casualty Recovery

Russia has proposed a 24 to 48-hour ceasefire in Ukraine to allow for the recovery of the dead and wounded, according to the Russian side during talks in Istanbul.
The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that Moscow reiterated its proposal to Kyiv for a «24 to 48-hour» ceasefire on the front lines, enabling both armies to recover the dead and wounded from the battlefield.
«We have once again proposed to the Ukrainian side to consider the establishment of a ceasefire for 24 to 48 hours on the front lines, so that medical teams can remove the wounded and commanders can recover the bodies of soldiers,» said Vladimir Medinsky.
Another exchange of prisoners of war was agreed upon, but there is no information on progress towards a peace agreement. The Ukrainian representative, Rustem Umerov, proposed a meeting in Moscow between the presidents of the two countries, which was rejected by the Russians.
Vladimir Medinsky responded that a summit between the two presidents could only take place to sign an agreement, not for negotiation.
