Pentagon Considers Suspending Spain's NATO Membership: Report

The U.S. Pentagon is considering suspending Spain's membership in NATO, according to an internal email obtained by Reuters.
The email outlines a range of policy options to "punish" allies who have not adequately supported the U.S. in operations in the Middle East. These include re-evaluating the U.S. stance on issues such as the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.
The document expresses dissatisfaction with allies who have refused to provide access, basing, and overflight rights (ABO). The exclusion of "difficult" countries from important roles within the Alliance is also being considered.
Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized NATO allies for their lack of military assistance, especially in the Strait of Hormuz. Pentagon spokesman Kingsley Wilson stated that the Department of Defense will ensure the president has "credible options" to ensure allies meet their obligations.
