Pakistan Proposes Flag Use for Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz

Pakistan has proposed that ships fly its flag to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Bloomberg.
Islamabad reportedly contacted major commercial brokers, seeking ships that could be escorted by Iranian forces while temporarily flying the Pakistani flag.
According to an executive at a ship management company, the proposal was not accepted. Iran had agreed to allow 20 Pakistani ships to pass through the Strait.
Pakistan was looking for the largest ships, including supertankers capable of carrying 2 million barrels of oil, to demonstrate the success of diplomatic efforts.
At least two major oil trading houses received the offer.
