Ukraine: Russia Presses Sumy with 50,000 Troops - WSJ

According to the Wall Street Journal, Russia is increasing pressure on Ukraine, concentrating 50,000 troops around Sumy. Having driven Ukrainian forces from Kursk, Russian forces are now targeting this regional capital, where they outnumber Ukrainians approximately 3 to 1.
General Oleksandr Syrskiy, Ukraine's top military commander, stated that the Russian strategy is to exhaust Ukrainian forces with their numbers. The Russian advance towards Sumy comes as American President Donald Trump expresses frustration with the Kremlin's reluctance to mediate a ceasefire.
Ukraine lost an F-16 fighter jet and its pilot during an aerial bombardment. Ukrainian generals are trying to fill the gaps with elite groups, while soldiers complain about inadequate defensive works.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated that the defense lines in Sumy are being improved in the threatened areas.
