Ukraine: Predictions for the War After Putin-Trump Meeting
Share on:

Following the Putin-Trump meeting in Alaska, the future of the war in Ukraine remains uncertain. There was no ceasefire agreement, with Trump adopting the Russian position for peace through negotiations leading to fait accompli.

The Russian proposal for a land swap was accepted, and Trump mentioned an upcoming new meeting with Putin. Additionally, there will be no new US sanctions against Russia or countries trading with it.

Trump shifts responsibility to the EU and Zelensky, urging them to accept the concessions requested by Moscow. Western media reports that Moscow wants to keep Luhansk and Donetsk.

The prospect of Zelensky ceding territory is considered extremely difficult, as no leader would agree to dismember their country. Trump seems to recognize that Zelensky has no negotiating tools, as sanctions have not crippled Russia and the West cannot engage militarily.

Trump takes into account information about the situation on the fronts and understands that Ukraine's military defeat is inevitable. The supply of weapons will continue until a solution is found, but it remains unknown.
