Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the first loss of a French-made Mirage 2000 fighter jet due to a technical malfunction during a mission.

According to Zelensky, the pilot successfully used the ejection seat and is in good health. No casualties on the ground were reported.

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, and assured that there were no casualties on the ground. The malfunction involved aeronautical equipment.

This loss is a blow to the Ukrainian army, which faces shortages of resources to counter Russian raids. Ukrainian forces had been trained in France for these aircraft, deliveries of which began earlier this year.

According to reports, the Ukrainian Air Force has also suffered losses of American-made F-16 fighters.
