UN Security Council Condemns September 9 Attacks in Qatar

The members of the Security Council expressed their condemnation of the attacks in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, emphasizing that Qatar is "the territory of a key mediator." They also expressed their deep regret for the loss of civilian lives.

The Security Council stressed the importance of de-escalation and assured its solidarity with Qatar, underlining its support for Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

They recalled their support for Qatar's role in mediation efforts in the region, along with Egypt and the United States, stressing that Doha's contribution remains vital for maintaining channels of communication.

The Council members stressed that the release of hostages and the end of the war in Gaza must remain a top priority. They reiterated the importance of the diplomatic efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States and called on the parties to seize the opportunity for peace.
