UN: New Israeli Settlement Plan Violates International Law

The United Nations Human Rights Office has deemed Israel's new settlement plan in the West Bank illegal. According to the UN, the plan to build thousands of homes between an Israeli settlement in the West Bank and near East Jerusalem violates international law.

The UN agency warns that the plan puts Palestinians at risk of forced eviction and aims to divide the West Bank into isolated enclaves. The UN notes that the transfer of civilian population to an occupied territory constitutes a war crime.
