Wang Yi Says China and EU are 'Partners, Not Rivals'

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China and the European Union are 'partners, not rivals,' emphasizing the need for cooperation and the proper settlement of disputes.
During meetings with his European counterparts, Wang Yi stressed that interdependence is not a risk and open cooperation does not undermine security, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
Mr. Wang met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. He mentioned that China's development is an opportunity for Europe.
Brussels is considering measures to strengthen European businesses amid geopolitical and trade tensions with the US and China. The EU seeks to limit Chinese influence in Europe by considering restrictions on Chinese investments and encouraging cooperation with local companies.
