Netanyahu: Court Rejects Delay in Corruption Trial

An Israeli court has rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request to halt the hearing in his corruption trial. The request to cancel the trial had previously been made by Donald Trump.
Netanyahu's lawyer requested a postponement, citing "developments in the region and the world," following the conflict with Iran and the continuation of the war in Gaza. According to the lawyer, the Prime Minister must dedicate time to managing national, diplomatic, and defense issues.
Donald Trump had called for the trial to be canceled, calling it a "witch hunt" and requested a pardon for Netanyahu.
The Jerusalem judges rejected the request, ruling that it did not present sufficient grounds for postponement. Netanyahu's trial began in May 2020. He is accused, along with his wife Sara, of receiving luxury gifts and attempting to negotiate favorable coverage in Israeli media.
