Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will attend the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza, following an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The opening ceremony will take place today, while tomorrow Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to Nicosia for the memorial service of Glafkos Klerides.

Tarek Tawfik, Professor of Egyptology at Cairo University, described the museum as a 'pyramid of the modern era.' The museum covers 50,000 sq.m. and includes 30,000 exhibits, with two halls dedicated to Tutankhamun.

Mr. Tawfik also mentioned the 'Canopus Decree' and expressed his support for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to the Acropolis Museum.
