The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mitskoski, stated that for him, the name 'Macedonia' is sacred, despite the Prespa Agreement. This statement provoked a reaction from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

X. Mitskoski mentioned that he does not accept censorship and has the right to express his thoughts. The statements were made in Skopje, in response to a question regarding the reaction of the Greek MFA.

The Greek MFA reminded Hristijan Mitskoski that the constitutional name of the country is 'North Macedonia', as stipulated by the Prespa Agreement, which is binding on both sides. It also emphasized that the progress of bilateral relations and the European path of North Macedonia presuppose adherence to the agreements.

The reason for the MFA's reaction was statements by X. Mitskoski, in which he claimed that he had restored the use of the name 'Macedonia'.
