Merz: Final Decision Needed on EU-US Customs Agreement

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called for the finalization of the customs agreement between the EU and the US, following the withdrawal of threats from Donald Trump to impose tariffs.

During a press conference with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bologan, Merz stressed that they would not accept a deterioration of the agreement and that further disputes would harm investments in the US.

Merz stated that he has no reason to doubt the health of Donald Trump and reiterated Germany's support for Ukraine.

The Defense Ministers of Germany and Romania signed an agreement for closer defense cooperation. Merz also referred to Russian threats, noting violations of NATO airspace and the joint response to these with Romania.
