Machado Reportedly Offered Nobel Peace Prize to Trump After Meeting

Venezuelan opposition leader MarĂa Corina Machado reportedly offered Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize she was awarded in December. Machado made the statement after a meeting and lunch with Trump at the White House.
According to Machado, the offer was in recognition of “his unique commitment to our freedom.” Machado presented Trump with the medal, drawing a historical analogy to SimĂłn BolĂvar and George Washington.
It is unclear whether Trump accepted the medal. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has stated that the prize is neither donated nor transferred.
The White House stated that Trump made a “realistic assessment” of Machado's popular support, but no timeline for elections in Venezuela was discussed. Machado stated that she can count on President Trump for the freedom of Venezuela.
