Mattarella on Iran: Inhuman Barbarity Against Protesters

Italian President Sergio Mattarella, in a speech in Venice, addressed the recent developments in Iran, condemning the crackdown on protests.

"Let us think about what is happening these days in Iran: along with the inhuman barbarity of eliminating protesters, the concealment of what is happening was the first concern of a regime which tried to prevent access to sources of information," Mattarella emphasized.

"Every repression passes through the violent repression of journalists. It is no coincidence that the most barbaric regimes immediately take care to limit the freedom of information," he added.
