Mali: Al-Qaeda Jihadists Seize Strategic Location of Farabougou

Al-Qaeda jihadists have seized the strategic location of Farabougou in central Mali, imposing strict rules on the residents.
The rules include restrictions on women and a ban on music, cigarettes, and alcohol. The takeover comes after the jihadists seized the town's military camp a week prior.
Jama'a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM), affiliated with Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the takeover. Farabougou is strategically important due to its central location in the Segou region.
Residents are now forced to pay taxes to JNIM and comply with its rules.
