Macron Expresses Solidarity with Armenia Amid Instability

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed France's solidarity with Armenia and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a phone call. Macron assured Pashinyan of France's support for peace efforts with Azerbaijan and the normalization of relations with Turkey.

Macron's statement follows Pashinyan's announcement last Wednesday about thwarting a coup attempt allegedly involving Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who was arrested. Galstanyan led protests in 2024 demanding Pashinyan's resignation. Two former Armenian Prime Ministers have sided with Galstanyan, while the Kremlin is closely monitoring developments.
