Nicosia: Concern over expanded operations in Gaza

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus expressed "deep concern" about the announced expansion of military operations in the Gaza Strip, warning that the escalation will worsen the humanitarian crisis.
In a post on the X platform, the Ministry stressed the "urgent need" for an immediate ceasefire, unconditional release of all hostages, and unhindered provision of humanitarian aid "on a massive scale," in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law.
At the same time, it reiterated that Hamas must be disarmed and that no terrorist organization can have a role in the governance of Gaza. It also stressed that the territorial and demographic status of the region must remain in accordance with international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the position of the Republic of Cyprus in favor of the two-state solution, which it considers the only viable path to lasting peace and security in the region.
