Cyprus to Advocate for Continued EU Support to Ukraine

Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos stated that Cyprus will work to ensure the EU continues to support Ukraine at all levels. The statement was made during the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels.
The FAC agenda included the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and developments in the Sahel and Sudan. Mr. Kombos reiterated the Republic of Cyprus's position in favor of respecting Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Foreign Minister emphasized Cyprus's support for the adoption of new sanctions and addressing the circumvention of sanctions by third countries. Regarding the Middle East, he welcomed the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza and briefed on President Nikos Christodoulides's six-point plan.
Regarding Sudan, the Minister expressed concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation and stressed the need to protect civilians and develop infrastructure.
