Cyprus participates in teleconference on Ukraine

Cyprus participated in the teleconference of the "Alliance of the Willing" on Ukraine, reaffirming its steadfast support for the country. According to government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the teleconference included an update on the meeting between the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump, and the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, on August 15.
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, participated in the teleconference, which was co-organized by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Kir Starmer, and the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also participated in the teleconference.
Mr. Letymbiotis emphasized that Cyprus strongly supports Ukraine, especially in light of the ongoing occupation of part of Cyprus' territories for 51 years. The Republic of Cyprus supports respect for the Charter of the United Nations, the independence and territorial integrity of all states, as well as the mediation efforts of the United States to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine.
