Critical Summit for Vertical Corridor in Washington

A ministerial summit is taking place in Washington for the Vertical Gas Corridor, with the participation of 12 countries. Greece is represented by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou.
The summit, themed "Transatlantic Gas Security Summit," is organized by the White House and the National Council of Energy Sovereignty of the USA.
The CEO of DEI, Giorgos Stassis, is also in the American capital.
The summit takes place after the decision of the US Supreme Court regarding the tariffs imposed by Donald Trump, temporarily suspending the EU-US trade agreement of 2025, which includes a natural gas supply package of 750 billion euros.
A key issue is the commitment to long-term LNG contracts.
The summit also includes representatives from Aktor, DESFA, Gastrade, and DEPA Emporias, as well as EU officials and major energy companies.
