Costa: Gaza plan should have 'consequences' on EU-Israel relations

European Council President Antonio Costa stated that Israel's decision to occupy the city of Gaza "should have consequences on EU-Israel relations."
Costa called on the Israeli Government to reconsider its decision, stressing that it violates the agreement with the EU and undermines the fundamental principles of international law.
Costa described the situation in Gaza as "dramatic," while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also called on Israel to revise its plan.
The European Commission had already ruled that Israel was violating an article of the EU-Israel Association Agreement and proposed suspending some European funding.
However, the decision has not yet received the green light from the member states, as the 27 appear divided.
