EU Commission Confirms Turkey's Application to SAFE Program

The European Commission confirms that Turkey has applied to participate in the SAFE program. European Commission Spokesperson for Defence, Thomas Reniere, stated that Turkey's participation requires a decision by the European Council.

Mr. Reniere explained that for the application to be discussed in the Council, it must first be approved by the Commission. He emphasized that the Commission understands the concerns of member states and that there are safeguards in place to protect the interests of member states and the EU itself.
