Kallas: Turkish-Libyan memorandum violates sovereign rights

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum violates the sovereign rights of third countries and is inconsistent with the law of the sea.

She also emphasized that a stable and secure environment in the Eastern Mediterranean is in the interest of the European Union, stressing the need for all countries to respect the sovereignty and sovereign rights of all member states.

Kaja Kallas concluded that the European Union firmly believes that maritime delimitation differences should be resolved peacefully, through negotiations, with full respect for international law and the law of the sea.
