Kaja Kallas: New Sanctions on Russia Next Month

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, announced that Brussels will continue to increase pressure on Russia, targeting the financing and structures that support the war in Ukraine.

A new sanctions package is under preparation and is expected to be presented next month. Kallas' statement came after a teleconference of the European Council regarding the war in Ukraine.

In a post on the X platform, Kallas stressed that Moscow cannot be considered a reliable interlocutor, underlining the need for strong security guarantees to prevent future attacks.

Kallas emphasized that unity among European leaders was evident during the teleconference and that she has set the security of Ukraine and sanctions against Russia as top priorities ahead of the meeting of EU Foreign and Defense Ministers next week.
