USA: Trump Meets Petro and Declares 'Love for Colombia'

Colombian President Gustavo Petro met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. After the meeting, Trump wrote on a photo, 'Gustavo – Great Honor – Love Colombia'.

Petro stated that he asked Trump for help in arresting drug traffickers located outside Colombia, even in the USA. He also requested mediation in a diplomatic dispute with Ecuador.

The two leaders have had strained relations in the past, with Trump calling Petro an 'illegal drug leader' and Petro criticizing attacks on speedboats carrying drugs. However, they held a phone conversation in January that led to Petro's invitation to Washington.

According to sources, Colombian officials planned to present their achievements in combating drugs, including cocaine seizures. Colombia is a traditional ally of the US in suppressing drug trafficking.
