US: Marco Rubio Praises Syria's Progress

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed his support for the "progress" Syria has made, despite the challenges. The US continues to support the al-Sharaa regime.
In a press conference in Bratislava, Rubio stated that he appreciates Syria's progress and emphasized the need to maintain it. He also referred to the agreement between the Kurdish minority and the Syrian authorities, stressing that it needs to be implemented. "It will not be easy and there are other similar agreements that need to be completed with the Druze, the Bedouins, the Alawites, with all the components of the very diverse Syrian society," he added.
Rubio met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava. In late January, Damascus and Kurdish officials announced an agreement to integrate the forces and administration of the autonomous Kurdish zone into the Syrian state.
Rubio added: "We believe that this outcome, as difficult as it was, is much preferable to a Syria that would have been broken up into eight pieces, with all kinds of fighting and mass migrations. Therefore, we are very positive."
