US Imposes Sanctions on Palestinian Authority and PLO β Israel Expresses Gratitude

The United States has imposed sanctions on officials of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), accusing them of actions that "internationalize the conflict with Israel" and "support terrorism."
The announcement comes as other countries consider recognizing a Palestinian state. The sanctions consist of visa denials for members of the two organizations.
The State Department states that the PA and PLO "support actions in international organizations that undermine previous commitments."
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saβar thanked Marco Rubio and the State Department for the sanctions.
