The United States and Russia are escalating tensions with mutual threats regarding the use of nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump responded to statements by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev by announcing the deployment of two nuclear submarines to "appropriate areas."

The announcement was made via the Truth Social platform, where Trump stated that his decision was made "in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are not just words." He also added, "When you talk about nuclear, you have to be prepared. And we are prepared."

The feud between the two men has intensified in recent days, with mutual accusations and warnings via social media. Medvedev had warned of the "dead hand threat," referring to the automatic launch system for Russian nuclear weapons in the event of an attack.

The Kremlin has not officially commented on Donald Trump's moves. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin avoided directly responding to Trump's ultimatum, stating that he desires a "lasting and stable peace" in Ukraine.
