US and Iran: Disputes over Uranium, Sanctions, and the Strait of Hormuz
Share on:

The United States and Iran are called upon to bridge significant differences regarding Iran's nuclear program, sanctions, and the Strait of Hormuz.

According to CNN, one of the key issues concerns Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium. Iran has approximately 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%. Trump claimed that Tehran had agreed to transfer this stockpile to the United States, but a senior Iranian official immediately rejected the claim.

A significant point of disagreement is also the duration of a possible suspension of the nuclear program. During the talks, the US side proposed a 20-year suspension of enrichment, while Tehran reportedly countered with a five-year pause, a proposal rejected by Washington.

At the same time, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is also at the center of discussions. Tehran has announced new restrictions on navigation in response to Trump's statement that the US blockade of Iranian ports will continue until an agreement is reached.
