US Offers Historic $50 Million Reward for Nicolás Maduro's Arrest

The United States is offering a record $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela.
The US government, like the previous one, does not recognize Maduro's re-election in 2018. The US Department of Justice accuses Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking.
According to the State Department, Maduro leads a criminal organization known as the 'Cártel de los Soles', which allegedly smuggles tons of cocaine into the United States.
The $50 million reward was announced by US Attorney General Pam Bondi. The previous reward was $25 million.
Relations between Caracas and Washington are strained, with the two countries having no diplomatic relations since 2019. The US has imposed sanctions and an embargo on Venezuelan oil.
