G. Gerapetritis: Greece will not accept violation of sovereign rights

Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis stated that Greece will not accept any violation of its sovereign rights under any circumstances.

In his statements, Mr. Gerapetritis mentioned that Libya respected the Greek median line when announcing the blocks. He also emphasized that Greece can enforce its claims and will exercise all its rights.

The Foreign Minister underlined that Greece has managed to maintain a satisfactory working relationship with both sides of Libya, which was not the case in the past. He noted that Greece is the only European country that can speak at the highest level with both sides of Libya.

Referring to the Turkish-Libyan memorandum, Mr. Gerapetritis said that Greece is in a position to negotiate with Western Libya for the delimitation of maritime zones, in accordance with International Law.

Finally, Mr. Gerapetritis stated that Greece will not abandon any right arising from International Law and will exercise all its rights, having the alliances it has.
