Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Reported Dead

Several Libyan media outlets are reporting that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, is allegedly dead. The 53-year-old was wanted by the International Criminal Court.

In 2015, he was sentenced to death in absentia by a Libyan court for suppressing protests in 2011, but was later granted amnesty. Al Arabiya reported that Saif al-Islam was shot in the city of Zenten.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi had announced in 2021 his intention to run for the presidency of Libya, but the elections were postponed.
