A flight from Spain arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday, marking the first European flight since the capture of Nicolás Maduro during a U.S. military operation on January 3.

A Boeing 787 aircraft from Air Europa landed at the Maiquetía International Airport in Caracas shortly after 21:00, as confirmed by airport authorities.

Most commercial airlines had suspended flights to Venezuela following a warning from the U.S. civil aviation authority on November 21, amid military developments leading up to the January 3 operation.

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the reopening of Venezuelan airspace for commercial flights on January 29, after talks with interim President Delcy Rodríguez.

Iberia is assessing security conditions before resuming flights, while TAP (Portugal) announced it would soon restore air links. Avianca (Colombia), COPA (Panama), and Wingo have already resumed flights. American Airlines is also expected to resume flights to Venezuela soon.
