Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Donald Trump at the White House, signaling a rapprochement in US-Turkish relations. The meeting, the first in six years, focused on potential multi-billion dollar deals.

Trump warmly welcomed Erdogan, expressing his intention to proceed with the sale of F-16s and F-35s to Turkey and potentially lift sanctions related to the F-35 purchase. The two leaders also discussed regional developments, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Erdogan expressed readiness to take Turkish-American relations to a new level, referring to the F-35s, F-16s, and the Halk Bank issue. Trump also mentioned his meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew and the need for assistance to the Greek Orthodox Church.

The US Ambassador to Turkey described the meeting as historic, emphasizing its importance for the future of bilateral relations.
