Underwater robots have restarted the search for the debris of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, almost twelve years after its disappearance. The Boeing 777 vanished on March 8, 2014, after taking off from Kuala Lumpur en route to Beijing, carrying 239 people.

The American-British company Ocean Infinity has undertaken the search, which is expected to last up to 55 days. Autonomous underwater drones capable of diving to depths of up to 6,000 meters will be used, equipped with high-resolution sonar, ultrasound imaging, and magnetometers.

The search area covers approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean. If debris is found, Ocean Infinity will receive a reward of $70 million.

To date, only a few fragments believed to be from the aircraft have been recovered, and no remains of the passengers have been found.
