Surprise Visit: Fidan in Damascus, Meets with Sara

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made a surprise visit to Damascus, where he met with Syrian President Ahmet Sara, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

The meeting assessed the progress in relations between Turkey and Syria and discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as Turkey's national security concerns arising from northeastern Syria.

In addition, cooperation in the fight against terrorist organizations, particularly ISIS and PKK/YPG, and Israel's actions threatening regional stability were discussed. Turkey's priority is to exploit cooperation opportunities for the stability and security of Syria.
