Bloomberg: Trump's Plan for US 'Blank Check' in Greenland

According to Bloomberg, the United States, under Donald Trump, is seeking a complete revision of the defense agreement with Denmark, aiming to remove all restrictions on its military presence in Greenland.
Washington aims to transform the island into an area of unrestricted military activity, with Trump desiring 'full and permanent access.' The original 1951 agreement, as amended in 2004, stipulates that the US must inform Denmark and Greenland before significant changes in military operations.
The American side seeks wording that would ensure complete freedom of movement, without time or operational restrictions. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly stated that the US will achieve all its strategic goals in Greenland at minimal cost and on a permanent basis.
Trump stated that there is a 'framework for a future agreement' and suggested that NATO would participate. He noted that he would make it clear whether Copenhagen has given its consent within two weeks. A final agreement could defuse a potential crisis in transatlantic relations.
This strategy marks a shift from recent decades, during which the US had reduced its presence in Greenland. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that she is open to further expansion of the defense agreement, but respectfully.
