Ratko Mladić's Request for Release Rejected

The International Criminal Tribunal has rejected the request for release of Bosnian Serb leader Ratko Mladić, who is serving a life sentence for his role in the Bosnian War (1992-95).
Mladić, convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity, cited health reasons. The court announced that his health condition is manageable at the detention center in The Hague.
The President of the Court, Graciela Gatti Santana, stated that Mladić does not have an acute terminal illness that would justify his release. Mladić was the head of the Bosnian Serb forces and was found guilty of the siege of Sarajevo and the Srebrenica massacre.
