Resolution to Limit Trump's Power Against Iran Rejected

The U.S. Senate has rejected a resolution that would have limited Donald Trump's powers regarding military actions against Iran. The resolution, proposed by Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, was voted down with 53 votes against and 47 in favor.
Tim Kaine sought to ensure that the U.S. armed forces would not engage in hostilities against Iran without Congressional approval. This effort met strong resistance from Republicans, with the exception of Senator Rand Paul, who voted in favor of the resolution.
Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, stated that removing powers from the president on matters of war is dangerous. The resolution is expected to be put to a vote in the House of Representatives, where it is also expected to fail.
Donald Trump has expressed his intention to strengthen his executive powers, taking a more active role in military operations.
Tim Kaine expressed his disappointment that the government did not present evidence of an 'imminent threat' from Iran, stressing that the 'imminent threat' is central to the legality of war.
